Let's say that you have the rights to make a Castlevania adaptation, and an unlimited budget with which to do so, and absolutely no restrictions-- it could be a movie, it could be a stage play, it could be anything. What games and characters would you adapt, and why? Who would you hire (this is hypothetical, and you've got no budget restrictions-- it could be anyone!) to write it, direct it, be in charge of the art? Who would you cast? If it's animated, would it be traditional, CGI, or stopmotion? What composers would you hire for the music?

Oh man, where do I even start... Well, I think I would love an anime-styled OOE movie that really leans stylistically into bright colors (using color for mood in the way Suspiria does would be awesome...) and symbolic imagery. I would condense the plot a little but keep it mostly the same, I'd simplify the "absorbing belmont essence" plot device a little (since there's no branching endings, he's simply a ghost trapped inside Dominus after it took his soul) and have Laura as a travelling companion on Shanoa's pursuit of Albus, so we get more insight into Shanoa's character through how Laura tries to find that insight herself. (This is, of course, a romantic subplot). Maybe earlier in the film we see some more scenes of Barlowe seeming kind and warm towards Shanoa to make the betrayal sting more, I've got this scene in my head of Barlowe playing the organ for her under the pretense of trying to gauge her emotional reaction...
This is quickly expanding beyond the length of a feature film lol
The last scene: the morning after the fight. Shanoa has used Dominus and witnessed Albus's sacrifice, and watches the castle collapse around her; believing her duty finished, she waits to die, almost as if she believes it will atone for making Albus sacrifice himself as well. But in the morning, Laura's hand reaches out and pulls her out of the remains of the once-great castle, and convinces her there's still a life waiting for her. Laura is so relieved to see her, and Shanoa realizes she can finally give her that smile ... And the credits are a montage of Shanoa learning to live in Wygol.
I also need to invent necromancy so I can have Christopher Lee voice Dracula. I have no idea who else I would cast in this.

Laura traveling along with Shanoa would be a beautiful expansion of Laura's quest, and her being there to pull her from the rubble is such a beautiful visual. I adore the idea of making Barlowe's betrayal hurt all the more by emphasizing the fake kindness he showed Shanoa-- it would make the "have you forgotten who raised you" dialogue he has in his boss battle hit all the harder!

Thanks so much! I've had ideas kicking around my head for how OOE would be adapted and since it's already more linear and plot focused I think it would fare pretty well :) I'm glad you like my ideas!
