The rain falls endlessly. It’s mid-day, and yet it is as pitch as night. Your heart is practically beating out of your chest, your sweltering rage nigh enough to evaporate the raindrops that fall on you.
You stand at the entrance of a large and daunting castle. It feels larger than the entire world.
When you were young, the Vampire that calls this domain their home killed your entire family, leaving only you, a mere toddler, alive. Was it mercy? Pity? Or were they waiting until you were older to drink your blood?
You couldn’t bear the anxieties of waiting for them to come to you anymore, so here you are, and the start of it all, bringing the fight to them.
All you have on your person is:
-1 TRIANGULAR CAP (+1 DEF, RES. to LIGHT) -1 FRILLY DRESS SHIRT (NO ADDED BONUSES) -1 FLOWING JACKET (+1 DEF, RES. to COLD) -1 pair of LEATHER PANTS (+1 DEF, RES. to COLD) -1 pair of LEATHER BOOTS (+1 DEF, RES. to COLD) -1 BACKPACK (+5 INV. space)
-2 DAGGERs (+5 ATK each)
-2 DAYS WORTH OF FOOD AND DRINK (Breakfast (2): heals 5 HP each Lunch (2): heals 10 HP each Dinner (2): heals 15 HP each Water (12): heals 2 HP for 15 actions)
Your name is Vafara, and you are here to take revenge on the foul Vampire that ended your family, and so many countless others.
You stand just before the gate. Once you step in, you know there is no going back. You do not know what you will face, or if you will even survive the night. Do you go in, Vafara?
-[HOW THIS WORKS]- Submit commands in a text adventure-style way. It does not have to directly involve what the previous main message said.
For example: You could send a command like “Calm yourself” to help soothe Vafara’s nerves, or “Kick the gate” to kick the gate for no reason. You can have Vafara say or do damn near anything.

You feel your worries and fears solidify into sheer resolve as you put one foot in front of the other. One foot in front of the other, just as your mother taught you. Look for other entrances to the castle. As far as you can tell, there aren’t any other entrances. The castle sits at the edge of a cliff, so if there was another way in, it’d be a narrow path, which frankly you don’t feel willing to try, despite your steeled nerves. -[STATUS EFFECTS]- STEELED NERVES +5 ATK, DEF (19 actions left)

Taking a page from the Vampire’s book - the fact that he cannot enter homes unless invited - you decide to knock on the door with a simple rhythm and simply wait. You happen to stand a bit too closely to the doors, and when the doors suddenly swing open… -[CHANCE]- Roll 2 d20 dice. Add no additional command aside from the two numbers. The first number is if your command is chosen. The first command submitted will be the default one chosen, unless a command is submitted with a higher first number, then that one will be chosen, and so on and so forth. The second number is to see what happens. This is left as a surprise for what second numbers mean success and what numbers mean failure, as to prevent any potential rerolling shenanigans.

You take your first steps into the castle. Immediately, you feel the atmosphere around you change. It feels… intense, suffocating. But, just as soon as it changed, you get used to it, like a feeling you’d known all your life. You find yourself in the foyer of the Vampire’s castle. To the left and right of you are a total of four rooms and some miscellaneous furniture. Ahead of you, the foyer continues into a hallway with a fork in the road. let's call out a cheery "hello! anyone home?" as we move forward. after all, it's rude not to greet a guest... likely not intentional. You cup your hands around your mouth and call out, "Hello! Is anyone home?" It's a bit of an odd way to announce your arrival at the Vampire's castle, but as far as you can tell there's not anybody to hear your call. You can't ever be too sure about the "no danger" part, you are in enemy territory after all. Peeking into the rightmost door, you simply find a room full of barrels, the barrels themselves presumably full of wine or some other fermenting liquid.

I say inspect the barrels - I'm curious about their contents. Stepping into the room, you bring your attention to the barrel closest to you. It's indistinguishable from all the other ones, turned on its side like all the others, and has a cork in it like all the others. One of your daggers could easily open it up, you reckon, but then you'd probably get the contents poured on you if you kept it on its side like it is now. -[STATUS EFFECTS]- STEELED NERVES +5 ATK, DEF (13 actions left)
