i think most of the character discussion goes in here so this is where ill put it
are there any cv characters you really like who you think are super underrated? id like to hear about them
i was thinking about beloved mr grant danasty myself, he deserves better than what konami gives him. and as an honourable mention, his descendant, michelle danasty from that one post-dawn light novel. that things hilarious
i think grants dynamic with the other cviii characters, trevor especially, is really interesting to explore, + the fact that he dedicates himself to helping rebuild wallachia after cviii... is it because he hasnt really got anyone other than trevor and sypha to return to, after his rebels were slaughtered? also, i like to think about his reactions to whatever was happening in curse of darkness, with trevor not bringing any of his friends along... kind of a dumbass move honestly. did grant even know about the forgemasters causing trouble? very very curious

I haven't been in the fandom long enough to really know what's underrated or overrated, but from what I could glean, characters who need more love IMO are: - Grant, as you said lol. poor dude keeps getting shafted - Isaac. Hector seems to have become more popular after the backlash against his Netflix portrayal, but even fans who don't like the show mostly think its version of Isaac is superior. I disagree lol. the original Isaac is a far more interesting character imo, with his utter loyalty to Dracula displayed by his tattoos, how much he lost through no fault of his own, his tragic fate that doesn't justify his heinous actions... and you know, he's funny lol. - Juste and Maxim. Juste seems to be neglected among the "main" Belmonts because he didn't fight the real Dracula and because HoD is considered the "weak" game sandwiched between CoTN and AoS (another take I disagree with), but Juste is a beast thanks to his OP powers and his speed, he has funny quirks, and I like how chronologically he's the first Belmont to feel the weight of his legacy. Maxim is also an interesting rival, who wanted to help Juste with his fate, but ended up unearthing his resentment thanks to Dracula's relics. Yes the game could have done more with this, but I like the idea. - Jonathan and Charlotte. They're cute, okay? I love their chemistry as childhood friends, how they support each other in game, and their general personalities, especially Jonathan who is brash out of grief but he's described as actually laidback and positive in his bio. - Walter. There's not much to him other than being a giant asshole, but he's a very entertaining asshole lmao. Love his over-the-top style (he has two capes!) and love how you can see how he's a bit of a proto Dracula, but without the tragic backstory. Funnily enough, his bio implies that he's only 42, way too young to be bored with immortality already lol

LAURA LAURA LAURA for sure I just love her character arc. And her lesbian subtext <3 and her sweet, casual personality.

"Nathan is underrated," said the resident Nathanfucker.
I don't know why he makes my brain go full Pepe Silvia with his backstory (how did his parents die? does Morris feel guilty about letting them die? is that why he took Nathan in?) and his interactions (is Hugh his brother or his boyfriend? I am summoning the ghost of KCEK with a ouija board as we speak) and his inner thoughts (he spent a decade assuming Hugh is gonna be the successor and then had the responsibility of the whip thrust on him WHAT DOES HE THINK OF THAT?), but here we are.
But outside of blorbo thoughts, you could at least get meme mileage out of Nuclear Nathan.

Nuclear Nathan isn't a glitch he can just do that in-universe. To me.

I like Olrox from SotN, it's a fun look into some more of the ways other vampires would exist in the Castlevania franchise, even though this is more of an early look at that sort of thing. I also really love Yoko Belnades, though I haven't played the games she's in, I find her as a cool character!! Also, the Castlevania 64 characters, they're so near and dear to my heart as a silly game I love the early graphics look of. Oh, and Sonia Belmont, cuz she's cool as hell.. there's so many cool characters from old games or largely forgotten CV media.

The Olrox mention reminded me, I really like Brauner as a character and a unique villain and he's kind of under appreciated! I always love when more vampires show up.

speaking of vampires, camilla circle of the moon is my beloved most underrated right hand man tbh, i could characterise her so hard

CARMILLA MY BELOVED... I do have a bit of a Narrative in my head for her tbh. I love her and Laura as a fun evil lesbian vampire duo. They can be scary and intimidating, can be campy and silly, and have a lot of potential- especially when you take into account in the source material Laura was a human, so it's possible CV Carmilla turned her into a vampire or monster.
